When a Master Mechanic and a Metalsmith join forces magic happens. We are Caleb and Rachel married and metal-obsessed. We both love cars and working with fire! One day when Caleb was working on a car we joked tires are car jewelry then Rachel ran into the studio to get mold material and took a silicone mold of the tire and poof ...Old Town Tread was born.
Taking the mold into the studio, we poured wax into the mold and cast them in bronze. Each piece is slightly different due to the handmade process. The tire castings then get made into belt buckles, bolo ties and rings.
Gorgeous Gold Brass etched with the pattern of tire tread from a 1965 Mustang! Each cuff is hand made one of a kind and pattern may vary slightly. Hand formed from flat to cuff with hammers and steel. Darkened with organic patina to highlight tread pattern. Sealed with 2 coats of wax to retain color. Wear and time will allow Brass to further patina. More wax can be applied as needed.
